Sex Offender Registry

Once a person has been convicted of any sex crime, they will appear on the Florida Sex Offender Registry website as Florida law requires. Once you become registered as a sex offender, most of your personal information, such as your name, address and a photograph of you will become available to the public. Realize that anyone will be able to find this information through the website including your employer, future employers, neighbors, and anyone else that may have contacts with you. If you have to relocate, you will be required to announce of your status.

There are two different levels of sex offenders: the regular sex offender designation and the more severe child/sexual predator label. Both titles are bad, but the sexual predator is worse, as well as the consequences that come with the title. Being labeled as a predator may have a severe negative impact on your life, affecting every child around you, including family members.

Aside from being required to register as a sex offender and having that title, you will be required to spend time in jail. For a smaller crime, such as exposure, you may spend up to one year in jail; for a larger crime such as sexual battery, you may spend anywhere from 15 years to 30 years in confinement. For the most serious charges such as sexual battery on a person under 12 years, you will spend life in imprisonment.

The skilled sex crimes defense attorneys at Caimano Law Firm will defend your case, regardless of the charge, assertively. If you are charged with a sex crime, your quality of life may be in risk, and will change perpetually, especially if you are required to register as a sexual predator.
